The Downtown Vancouver BIA, which represents 8,000 businesses in the core, joins the chorus of other organizations supporting extended hours for SkyTrain and Canada Line service. It is pleased this issue is getting the attention it deserves. It applauds Kevin Falcon's work in bringing the faregate system in as its impact on panhandling and personal safety has been a long-standing issue for the DVBIA.

BC Liberal Party leadership candidate Kevin Falcon has announced that he supports extending the operating hours of SkyTrain on weekends. Falcon has committed to work with TransLink to explore this option, in recognition of the fact that the 3am closing time in Vancouver’s entertainment district occurs well after the last SkyTrain operates.

“Lowering the voting age to 16 is an interesting idea. One I am inclined to support, in conjunction with mandatory civics courses as a part of the high school curriculum.
